For Health
Professionals
Conducting the National
Children’s Study effectively in our five counties depends on
having public support for this important research effort.
We need health professionals who are willing to volunteer
to make speaking engagements in our five counties to tell
people why this research is important, and why people in the
counties should make every effort to support the study, or
participate in the study if called upon. The audiences may
consist of health professionals like yourself or might be
lay people. We will provide training and a powerpoint
presentation for you to use.
If you
are interested in this opportunity, please provide your name
and contact information by sending an email to mancs@epi.msu.edu.
A member of our community engagement team will contact you
with further information
The
National Children’s Study must restrict its enrollment to
women who live in specific areas of the five study counties;
the NCS cannot enroll volunteers. However, we do appreciate
the support of lay people who can describe the importance of
this study to the general public and to women of
child-bearing age in our five counties. Such volunteers
may have a child, or know of a child, who suffers from one
of the conditions to be studied in the NCS, or may just feel
that this kind of research in child health is important. If
you would like to consider taking on this important task,
please let us know. We will provide both training and
information to use in giving talks. There may also be other
ways in which you can volunteer to help the NCS.
