Public Health is the
science and art of promoting health, preventing disease
and prolonging life through organized efforts of
society.
The Specialization in Global Public
Health & Epidemiology offers undergraduate students at MSU a concentration that will prepare them to succeed in
the MS program in Epidemiology or a program in Public
Health (that offers the MPH degree), and to pursue a
career in epidemiology and/or public health. This
is a unique opportunity for undergraduate students to
pursue what has traditionally been postgraduate
education in these fields.
This is not a degree granting program
and is designed to be taken concurrently with a four
year MSU baccalaureate degree or by a Lifelong Education
student who has an interest in broadening their
knowledge of Public Health and Epidemiology. The
specialization is designed to be completed by taking one
course per semester for seven semesters (3 1/2 years).
The Department of Epidemiology also offers Master of
Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in epidemiology
and a graduate certificate program as well.
This program is not major specific and
is open to all undergraduate students. For
more information please contact the Department of
Epidemiology directly at
sgphe@epi.msu.edu.
If you need an override for a
course, please complete an
Override Request
form and send it to
